Maxi talks about his excitement to play alongside George.
The Philadelphia 76ers are looking to make a run at the East title with Joel Embiid (213 cm, C). They’ve selected several players to partner with Embiid. All-Stars like Ben Simmons (206 cm, G-F) and James Harden (196 cm, G) have played alongside him. Despite this, Philadelphia didn’t even make it to the Conference Finals.
Last season, Philadelphia also suffered a first-round exit. Even with the development of All-Star guard Tyreese Maxie (188 cm, G), 파워볼사이트 추천 Philadelphia was unable to defeat the New York Knicks.
With salary cap space to spare, the Phils looked to rebuild this offseason. The team reached out to a number of players to build a “big three,” culminating in the acquisition of nine-time All-Star and six-time All-NBA team member Paul George (203 cm, F).
George played in 74 games last season, averaging 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.5 steals, and 41% shooting from three-point range. He was still a force on offense. While his numbers were down from his prime, he still played at an All-Star level.
Maxie was excited about George’s addition. “We’re very fortunate to have him on our team,” he told Clutch Point, “He’s 6-foot-10, but he’s fast and he can run. He can make a lot of plays. He’s a guy who can fit into any system.”
“He can shoot the ball, he can grab rebounds, he can distribute passes. He can take handoffs, he can play in transition, he can attack in transition. There’s no limit to him. Me, Embiid and George are going to have tremendous synergy.”
With George in the fold, Philadelphia should aim higher. The biggest goal is the Conference Finals. George should lead the team alongside Embiid and Maxi.
Meanwhile, Philadelphia also signed All-Star guard Maxi to a contract extension. Maxi had a tremendous season last season, averaging 25.9 points, 6.2 assists, and 3.7 rebounds. No longer is Embiid’s team a one-man show in Philadelphia. It will be interesting to see what kind of synergy the Maxi-George-MBD lineup will have.
