NBA James, Lakers agree to 2-year, 144.1 billion won contract

National Basketball Association (NBA) star player LeBron James has agreed to a new contract with the LA Lakers for a smaller raise than expected.

American sports media outlets ESPN and The Athletic reported on the 3rd (local time) that James agreed to remain with the Lakers on a two-year, $104 million (approximately 144.19 billion won) contract that included a no-trade clause.

That’s a slight increase from the $51.4 million salary scheduled for the 2024-25 season.

The outlet reported that the contract is not final and that James’ salary could be lowered through further negotiations.

Although it is a small amount for James, it seems that the Lakers will have difficulty strengthening their team because they have to pay a wealth tax for exceeding the salary cap.

James and the Lakers offered Klay 스포츠 Thompson a $20 million per season contract from the Golden State Warriors, but passed.

Thompson signed a three-year, $50 million contract with the Dallas Mavericks.

Meanwhile, James’ son Bronny James, who will play for the same team, signed a four-year, $7.9 million (about 10.9 billion won) contract.

Local media outlets evaluated it as an unusually good deal for a player selected in the second round of the NBA rookie draft.
