After scoring 10 goals in two October A matches in Lake Klinsmann, the “European” Taegeuk warriors are back in action for their respective clubs.
In addition to the national team, Son Heung-min, captain of Tottenham Hotspur (England), will host Fulham in the ninth round of the English Premier League (EPL) at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England at 4:00 a.m. (ET) on October 24.
Lee Kang-in shares his joy with Son Heung-min after scoring a goal during the South Korean national soccer team trial match between Vietnam and South Korea at Suwon World Cup Stadium in Paldal-gu, Suwon, South Korea, on Sunday afternoon.
Son Heung-min, the EPL’s second-leading scorer with six goals this season, has been playing A-League matches despite recent concerns about a leg injury.
After missing the 4-0 win over Tunisia on Oct. 13, he played the full game against Vietnam on Oct. 17 (6-0). He was seen grimacing during the game, but scored the team’s fourth goal to show that he is healthy.
It’s also good news for Tottenham that Son Heung-min, who was feared to have a leg injury, was able to play normally.
Spurs are unbeaten in eight games (W6 D2 L20) to start the season and sit atop the EPL standings.
Spurs have a back-to-back against Fulham on the 24th, followed by games against Crystal Palace and Chelsea, and ace Son Heung-min will be crucial.
Before Son, Hwang Hee-chan (Wolverhampton), who gained fame as the “Korean Guy” in the EPL, will play away to Bournemouth at 11 p.m. on Nov. 21.
Hwang’s form has been at an all-time high recently, as he has scored in three consecutive matches in all competitions for Wolverhampton, including two league games and the League Cup. He is tied for fourth in the EPL with four goals, and he also found the back of the net against Vietnam.
“I received a call from my manager to come back healthy and injury-free,” Hwang said after the Vietnam game, “and I will continue my good form when I return to Wolverhampton.”
‘Golden Boy’ Lee Kang-in (Paris Saint-Germain), who won gold at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, is also looking forward to playing for his club after a long absence.
Lee, who joined PSG from Mallorca (Spain) this summer, was sidelined for nearly a month with a left quadriceps injury after the second round of the league in August.
He came on as a second-half substitute against Dortmund (Germany) in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) on Sept. 20, but has yet to impress since joining PSG, so he’ll need to be more assured. 스포츠토토맨
