Lee Kang-In put in a stellar performance in his official debut for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in French professional soccer. But PSG had to settle for a goalless draw.
Lee started the opening Ligue 1 match of the 2023-2024 season between PSG and Lorient at the Parc des Princes in Paris, France, on Sept. 13 (KST) and played 82 minutes, including 37 minutes in the second half.
Lee, who joined PSG from Mallorca (Spain) last month, had a passable debut as he was all over the field.
While he didn’t score an offensive point, he showed off his long passing and breakaway ability, raising expectations. He was also responsible for taking corners and free kicks.
With Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, who led PSG’s attack until last season but is unavailable this season, not on the roster, Lee started on the right wing for PSG.
Newly signed striker Gonzalo Higuain lined up in the center, with Marco Asensio on the left.
Lee consistently troubled the Lorient defense, starting in the eighth minute when he broke between three defenders and set up Hamus with a penetrating pass.
In the 16th minute, he cut in from the right to the center of the box and fired a left-footed shot that was blocked by the physical defense.
Early in the second half, he fired a series of sharp shots. A mid-range shot in the seventh minute that sailed just over the bar was particularly disappointing.
Lee was replaced by Hugo Ekitike in the 37th minute of the second half.
PSG dominated the Lorient half, enjoying 78% of the ball possession, but were unable to capitalize.
They defended doggedly and occasionally let in sharp attacks that brought Lorient close to the goal.
In the 42nd minute, Lorient’s Laurent Aubergel hit the PSG post with a mid-range shot.
On the day, Fútbolrecord.com gave Lee a 6.9 rating, 먹튀검증토토사이트 the fourth-highest among PSG starters and the highest among the starting front three.
Lee completed three of his four dribbling attempts and had an 88 percent passing success rate.
