Ontario has most recently launched a new and regulated iGaming and sports betting market for private operators, which essentially took exclusive rights away from Ontario Lottery and gaming companies. However, despite major competition from more than a dozen new game operators, Crown Company recently reported quite impressive betting activity statistics.
OLG is a state-owned company, and until recently, it was the only corporation in Ontario to offer online sports betting and iGaming. This has changed as the province opens a new regulatory market for private operators, providing a huge variety of online sports books and aikasino verticals to local audiences.
Last week Crown Agency’s digital sports book PROLINE+ reported the highest number of bets since the launch of the product, despite Ontarians holding a range of online sports books. But excluding Super Bowl week, local teams were busy at the weekend as the Toronto Raptors lost to the Philadelphia 76ers and the Toronto Blue Jays continued to win the World Series.
OLG has already improved its PROLINE brand to stay up to date with an increase in competitors. PROLINE+ customers can leverage the new vertical stack on the betting line page to make the interface more user-friendly. The Crown has a set of NFL draft props and “Who will be the first Canadian draft?” and “Who will be the first Buffalo draft?””We’ve added a new market that includes props like this
But that’s not all because Crown plans to further develop its sports betting platform. OLG said customers can expect more player props for the upcoming Toronto Maple Leaf’s playoff hockey game. Now we’re planning to digitize the PROLINE Pools products that you can find in retail stores. Crown wants to update the app with products that are fully traded at retail stores.
OLG also plans to introduce eSports and other new sports to the PROLINE brand. However, more details about these products will be released in the future with more partnerships. Crown’s main goal is to integrate and satisfy customers on all three platforms: lottery, online casino, and sports betting.
The province announced that as of last Friday 23 and 21 of the Ontario State Liquor Games Board’s licensed operators are operating in the jurisdiction, most recently Comeon has been approved to join the province, and has a two-year license until April 2024.
OLG has also begun approving Q4 tax-free gaming revenue allocations for Ontario municipalities, home to land-based properties, over the past few weeks. For example, the city of Niagara Falls received 2.9 million CA in the quarter for hosting casino Niagara and Niagara Fallsview casino resorts on its territory.
