Suwon Katie (KT) Paris Bass, 28, has recorded her first “triple-double” of the season. Her teammates seem to be getting along well.

Bass scored 29 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and dished out 11 assists in the first round of the 2023-2024 Korean Basketball Association regular season against Daegu Korea Gas Corporation at Suwon Katie Sonic Boom Arena on Sept. 9. This is the first time a “triple-double” has been recorded in men’s professional basketball this season, meaning double digits in all three categories of scoring, rebounding, and assists.

Thanks to Bass’ performance, Katy won its third straight game, a big 91-69 victory over Gasworks to improve to 4-3 on the season. GASCO dropped its fourth straight game and remained in last place in the league (10th-1-6).

Through seven games this season, Bass is averaging 21.14 points, 10.43 rebounds and 5.43 assists. Despite his scoring and rebounding prowess, Bass has been criticized for his lack of cooperation in getting the ball to his teammates.

In particular, he wasted a chance at a triple-double against Goyang Sono on the 6th due to a “lack of help. She was called to the bench early in the fourth quarter after scoring 21 points, grabbing 12 rebounds, and dishing out eight assists. At the time, Katie’s coach Song Young-jin said, “I substituted her for stamina, but I wasn’t aware of her triple-double potential. If I had known, I would have let her play more.”

Against Gasworks, Song started Bass and utilized her for the entire fourth quarter. Bass, who had 23 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists in the third quarter, added three more assists in the fourth quarter to complete the triple-double. Song told reporters after the game, “Someone mentioned (Bass’ triple-double potential) to me at the end. I even gave him a pattern for his assists,” Song said, adding, “He got a triple-double, so I’m going to congratulate him.”

“I’m more excited about the team win than the individual record,” Bass said, adding, “I’m getting more comfortable with my teammates and it’s easier to make anticipatory passes.”

Meanwhile, it’s been more than a year and seven months since Darryl Monroe (then with Casey G) and Ji-Hoon Ham (Hyundai Mobis) recorded a triple-double 토토 in the regular season of professional basketball on April 5, 2022 (2021-2022 season). There were no triple-doubles in the 2022-2023 season.

This is the first time a Katie player has recorded a triple-double since Yang Hong-seok (now LG) on January 5, 2022, more than a year and 10 months ago.
