Roberto Firmino has commented on the relationship between Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
“Salah and Mane were never close friends, and it’s not easy to see them talking to each other,” Firmino said, according to a report by global media outlet ESPN. I don’t know if it’s because of the rivalry between Egypt and Senegal in African soccer.”
Firmino adds, “But that doesn’t mean they didn’t get along. They always remained professional. I never took sides, which is why they liked me. I preferred the team to win.”
Firmino joined Liverpool from German Bundesliga side Hoffenheim ahead of the 2015-16 season. In his first season, Firmino earned a regular spot in the starting lineup and impressed, especially when he formed a trio with Salah and Mane to help Liverpool win the title.
With the trio leading the attack, Liverpool won the European Football Association (UEFA) Champions League (UCL) in the 2018-19 season. The following year, in 2019-20, they won the Premier League (PL) crown. Firmino didn’t get as much attention as Salah and Mane, but his prolific work rate and ability to link up made him a valuable supporting player.
However, with the arrival of Luis Dias, Diogo Jota, and others, he began to lose ground in the competition, and eventually ended his stay at Liverpool at the end of last season. Firmino now plays for Al Ahli in Saudi Arabia.
Firmino”s comments about Salah and Mane have caused a stir. According to Firmino, they weren”t close friends, but they were professional on the 안전놀이터 field and played for the team. In fact, whenever Salah and Mane scored a goal, they would run over and share their joy.
